The Atkins diet is primarily based on a concept of why we get fat. According to Dr. Atkins, we over-eat carbohydrates and simple sugars leads to weight gain. Our body digest the excessive carbohydrates into fat or calories. In his book, Atkins defines this state as “insulin resistance”. His theory is that these over-sized people have cells that do not function correctly.
